ABOUT ME
MY STORY
Capturing the feel of the Australian bush, the light, the air, the smell and the the freedom you feel when you are in it, is what drives my painting. It is elusive yet ever present when you immerse yourself in this environment.
This is what I try to capture in every work I do, whether it be completed en plain air, or partially rendered in place and finished in the studio.
I have been painting the Australian landscape for many years, and never get sick of it. The work is always new and fresh, and even a barely perceptible shift in light for example, can illuminate a whole new perspective on a landscape I may have already painted numerous times. I suppose in this way the work also becomes an exercise in painting itself, the landscape a path into the exploration of painting as something intrinsic and raw.

In my current work I look at how our connection to landscape and its history informs our understanding of place and how we represent it.
Much of this current body of work is inspired by road trips over the last 12 months from Northern NSW to Victoria and beyond.
